About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design and evolve high-performance, scalable, and resilient backend services
- Lead complex technical initiatives, from architecture through production rollout
- Build pipelines for ingesting, processing, and serving large volumes of data (batch, streaming, parallelism)
- Identify and eliminate performance and resource-consumption bottlenecks (CPU, memory, I/O, cost)
- Modernize the architecture by evolving legacy systems, decomposing monoliths, and building distributed services
- Develop resilient messaging and integrations with retries, idempotency, circuit breakers, and DLQs
- Ensure quality through testing, code reviews, and observability
- Lead critical incident response and root cause analyses
- Use AI as a core part of development (AI First) without compromising quality and security
- Serve as a technical reference and mentor the team
Requirements
What you’ll need- Advanced proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript (event loop, asynchronous programming, memory, performance)
- Advanced proficiency in NestJS and/or Express
- Experience with distributed systems, microservices, and high volumes of data and requests
- Advanced proficiency in MongoDB and/or PostgreSQL, including data modeling, indexing, and query optimization
- Experience with messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS) and caching (Redis)
- Hands-on experience with profiling, load testing, and observability (metrics, logs, and tracing, preferably OpenTelemetry)
- Knowledge of Docker and cloud platforms (AWS and/or GCP)
- Advanced use of AI tools in day-to-day development
- Understanding of trade-offs between performance, cost, and complexity, along with autonomy and strong communication skills to influence technical decisions
- Multi-tenant architectures
- SRE practices (SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets)
- Observability with OpenTelemetry and Dash0
- English proficiency
