  • Facilitate student learning by developing instructional strategies for diverse student needs
  • Create learning experiences integrating instructional technologies and hybrid, in-person, virtual, and online delivery methods
  • Assess student learning and provide regular feedback
  • Use data to measure persistence, retention, completion, course success, and learning outcomes and design improvement strategies
  • Develop and continually revise competency-based curriculum and instructional materials
  • Fulfill assigned schedules and maintain accurate attendance and grade records
  • Maintain instructional environments emphasizing safety, housekeeping, and equipment security
  • Ensure course materials are available to students
  • Participate in division, department, and team activities and meetings, including planning, development, and budgeting
  • Build and maintain relationships with community, industry, and clinical partners
  • Participate in advisory committees, external meetings, business visits, and community groups
  • Collaborate with staff to recruit students and participate in recruitment events
  • Advocate for students and collaborate with Student Services to retain students and close achievement gaps
  • Advise students on class schedules, careers, internships, and program-related information
  • Maintain and improve occupational, teaching, and technology knowledge through professional development and industry networking
  • Teach courses in traditional classroom and alternative delivery formats
  • Work approximately 3 to 8 hours per week, with day, evening, and weekend classes possible
  • Potentially teach off-site, conduct fieldwork, or travel for professional development

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Fifth-year plumbing apprentice status is required, including completion of Paid Related Instruction (PRI)
  • Minimum of at least 6,000 hours (3 years) in the field within the last five years related to the program being taught required
  • Verifiable apprenticeship paid related instruction completion successfully required
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Subject to FVTC's Motor Vehicle Records Check
  • Proficiency utilizing learning management system
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Adapt quickly to changing demands, assignments, and circumstances to meet student needs
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with various audiences
  • Engage in continuous improvement in the quality of instruction by embracing innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods
  • Maintain Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements and licensure required to maintain individual and program accreditation
  • Journeyman or Master Plumber licensure is preferred
  • Experience in commercial, residential, and service plumbing work preferred
  • Ability to climb stairs or ladders if needed
  • Ability to lift and carry light to moderate items up to 50 lbs.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to operate a vehicle if driving is a requirement of the position
