About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform timely and accurate follow-up on claims to payers and patients
  • Prepare and submit timely and accurate rebilled claims
  • Submit initial billed secondary and tertiary claims to payers
  • Enter demographic data into billing and collections software
  • Generate claims for electronic and/or hard-copy submission
  • Generate Missing Information Requests (MIR)
  • Identify variances between booked revenue and expected reimbursement
  • Facilitate accurate claim reimbursement according to contracts and state and federal law
  • Identify and report violations of NSM Credit Policy
  • Collect and document payer-specific claims processing rules, practices, and guidelines
  • Support department and organizational policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or equivalency certificate
  • Experience in working with billing and collections software highly desirable
  • Knowledge of medical billing and insurance claim filing
  • Communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Adobe Acrobat is a plus
  • Strong data entry skills, including keyboarding, accuracy, and speed
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft suite of products, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat
  • Ability to perform duties requiring regular sitting, talking, hearing, and repetitive use of hands to operate standard office equipment
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms frequently
