About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design and engineer software with customer or user experience as the primary objective
- Contribute to the architecture, design and engineering centre of excellence
- Build and leverage stakeholder relationships
- Create customer outcomes through engineering and innovative solutions
- Develop innovative, customer-centric, high-performance, secure and robust technology designs
- Work with software engineers to produce and prototype innovative ideas
- Engage with domain and enterprise architects to validate and leverage solutions in wider contexts
- Design and develop software focused on automating build, test and deployment activities
- Develop software engineering discipline across the business
- Define, create and provide oversight and governance of engineering and design solutions
- Design and engineer complex software, scripts and tools for bank platforms, applications and services
- Act as a point of contact for solution design considerations
- Define and develop architecture models and roadmaps for application and software components
- Drive common usability across products and domains
- Design, produce, test and implement working code
- Apply Agile methods and DevOps techniques to software development
Requirements
What you’ll need- Significant experience in software engineering, software or database design and architecture
- Experience developing software within a DevOps and Agile framework
- Expert understanding of latest market trends, technologies and tools
- Significant and demonstrable experience implementing programming best practice, especially scalability, automation, virtualisation, optimisation, availability and performance
- Strong Python skills or Java back-end engineering experience
- Experience with generative and agentic AI using AWS services
- Experience with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and vector databases
- Experience configuring and tuning long-term and short-term agent memory
- Experience with context management and response-suppression techniques
- Experience implementing and enforcing AI guardrails
- Experience designing and implementing tool-calling
- Experience with agent logging, monitoring and auditability
