Key responsibilities & impact

Design and engineer software with customer or user experience as the primary objective
Contribute to the architecture, design and engineering centre of excellence
Improve the bank’s overall software engineering capability
Create customer outcomes through engineering, innovative solutions and customer-centric technology designs
Produce and prototype innovative ideas with software engineers
Engage with domain and enterprise architects to validate and leverage solutions in wider contexts
Design and develop software with a focus on automating build, test and deployment activities
Define, create, oversee and govern engineering and design solutions
Work within platform or feature teams to design and engineer complex software, scripts and tools for bank platforms, applications and services
Define and develop architecture models and roadmaps for application and software components
Design, produce, test and implement working code
Apply Agile methods and DevOps techniques to software development

Requirements

What you’ll need

Significant experience in software engineering, software or database design and architecture
Experience developing software within a DevOps and Agile framework
Broad knowledge of the Agile manifesto and its principles
Understanding and experience applying empirical process control
Expert understanding of current market trends, technologies and tools
Significant, demonstrable experience implementing programming best practices, especially scalability, automation, virtualisation, optimisation, availability and performance
Strong background leading software development teams in a matrix structure
Experience introducing and executing technical strategies
Significant, demonstrable experience of test-driven development
Experience using automated test frameworks, mocking and stubbing, and unit testing tools
Experience changing organisational, team or department mindsets and structures
Background designing or implementing APIs
Experience of the RPA automation lifecycle and managing automation projects
Ability to translate product and business requirements into technical solutions
Background working with code repositories, bug tracking tools and wikis
