About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Plan, create, and review employee schedules for operational staff within the FIR
  • Maximize human resources, training, and ongoing requirements while meeting operational needs and publishing deadlines
  • Ensure schedules comply with collective agreements, the Canadian Labour Code, unit policies, directives, and applicable regulations
  • Monitor employee schedules and iSIGN daily and identify deficiencies to management
  • Adjust schedules with manager approval by arranging overtime coverage and notifying employees of changes
  • Maintain the employee overtime list and distribute overtime equally according to contract agreements while ensuring Canadian Labour Code hours are not exceeded
  • Perform daily close-day verification to validate data accuracy between iSIGN reports and the Employee Scheduling System
  • Prepare cost-effective options that minimize impacts to ATS operations when generating new employee schedule cycles
  • Report to the Manager, Shift Optimization
  • Support deployment of operational staff for NAV CANADA’s Canadian and North Atlantic airspace operations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Successful completion of secondary school or an approved equivalent
  • 3 or more years of experience in employee scheduling
  • Experience in providing administrative or operations support
  • Experience using office computer software applications and data manipulation and reporting tools such as Word and Excel
  • Considerable knowledge of automated scheduling tools and Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of collective agreements, Canadian Labour Code guidelines and regulations, corporate policies, administrative policies, practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of the Air Traffic Services environment and experience coordinating and providing administrative support services in an operational environment
  • Knowledge of HR automated pay and leave systems and their interaction with the Employee Scheduling System
  • Ability to perform scheduling tasks in a telework or flexible work environment
  • Ability to work autonomously and support a virtual team
  • Ability to multitask, work under pressure, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks
  • Ability to provide advice to management and represented employees
  • Proven problem-solving, organization, communication, negotiation, adaptability, professionalism, tact, and teamwork skills
  • Shift work required
  • Must meet the position's security requirement
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada
