About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Prospect through direct outreach, referrals, business networks, partnerships, and existing relationships
- Prioritize expiring contracts, high energy costs, facility upgrades, and businesses with multiple locations
- Engage business owners, finance leaders, property managers, and facility teams
- Review utility bills, usage patterns, contract dates, and facility needs to identify savings and shape recommendations
- Present electricity and natural gas proposals covering supplier differences, pricing, contract terms, and market conditions
- Introduce solar, EV charging, battery storage, efficiency upgrades, and sustainability projects when appropriate
- Lead opportunities from discovery through proposal and signed agreement
- Coordinate implementation handoff with internal deal support
- Maintain accurate pipeline records and follow up consistently
- Stay ahead of contract expirations to earn renewals, referrals, and additional business
- Help commercial and industrial businesses compare energy offers, make contract decisions, and reduce operating costs
Requirements
What you’ll need- At least two years of sales experience, preferably B2B, with a record of winning clients and meeting or exceeding targets
- Comfortable prospecting, asking for referrals, and building relationships with business owners and decision-makers
- Consultative selling skills, including listening for business priorities, explaining recommendations clearly, handling objections, and moving conversations toward a decision
- Ability to manage pipeline, follow-up, and schedule independently
- Comfortable building income in a remote, 1099, commission-only role
- Energy consulting, procurement, or related experience preferred
- Established client book or professional network is a plus
- Must generate and manage own pipeline
