About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Partner with Northstar Planning Leadership to build the country-specific advice strategy and launch Northstar in Costa Rica
  • Build customized financial plans and provide actionable guidance to improve members' financial health
  • Provide education that empowers members to maximize employer benefits within their country
  • Support members and build trusting relationships through text-based chat, phone, and video calls
  • Consult with Northstar team members as a subject-matter expert on financial planning matters
  • Provide 1-on-1 financial guidance to Northstar members, employees of employer clients
  • Deliver advice-only financial planning without product sales or investment trading

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • An internationally recognized financial planning or advisory designation, such as CFA, CFP (issued by CFP Board or an FPSB affiliate), ChFC, or an equivalent CISI qualification
  • Active local licensing or accreditation reflecting current, hands-on practice is a strong plus, such as an agente de bolsa credential (Bolsa Nacional de Valores / SUGEVAL) or an insurance intermediary license (SUGESE)
  • Fluent English and Spanish, written and spoken
  • Experience in multiple areas of personal finance, including retirement, equity compensation, investments, budgeting, debt management, cash flow planning, digital currencies, estate planning, and insurance
  • Experience using financial planning software
  • Adaptability to proprietary software
  • Proficiency performing custom spreadsheet analyses
  • Track record of providing client-first, comprehensive financial plans to customers in all life stages and from all walks of life in a fiduciary capacity
  • Empathy, kindness, and emotional intelligence
  • High level of agency in a remote startup environment and a bias toward action
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Availability to work directly with assigned Northstar members for at least 10 hours a week
