About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Deliver, operate, monitor and continuously improve global IT infrastructure and platforms
- Ensure availability, stability, security and performance of internal systems and customer-facing platforms
- Manage and maintain data centre and server room assets, networking, security technologies, cloud hosting platforms, storage, virtualisation, container platforms, backup solutions, and business continuity/disaster recovery capabilities
- Transition new and enhanced services into operation
- Collaborate with the Design Authority, Service Delivery and wider TechOps teams to design, implement, test, document and support solutions
- Create and maintain documentation
- Perform routine tasks according to processes and checklists
- Monitor infrastructure and application services
- Alert and take appropriate action
- Participate in cross-functional GTS teams as directed by Senior Managers
- Ensure operational processes, documentation and training materials support effective service management throughout the lifecycle
Requirements
What you’ll need- Working knowledge of asset and configuration management, availability and capacity management, ownership and initiative, service focus, technical understanding, testing, user focus, IT infrastructure, information security, modern standards approach, problem solving, systems integration, and troubleshooting/problem resolution
- Awareness of change management, coding and scripting, continual service improvement, incident management, problem management, Service Management Framework/ITSM processes, and technical specialism
- Practitioner-level systems design skills
- Microsoft Server technologies such as Active Directory, Group Policy and DNS
- Linux operating systems, build and configuration
- Knowledge of cloud platforms, including IaaS and PaaS in AWS
- Backup solutions knowledge; Veeam experience preferred
- Network experience with IPv4, DNS, DHCP and firewalling
- Desirable: automation skills with Ansible
- Desirable: Infrastructure as Code with Terraform
- Desirable: server hardware build and maintenance
- Desirable: database management with Microsoft SQL and Postgres
- Desirable: application/network monitoring tools such as CheckMK, Zoho and PRTG
- Ability to work as part of a 24x7 operational support team
