About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Safely maintain and repair instrumentation, controls, computers, DCS, and supervisory/safety-related control systems at Gerald Gentleman Station
  • Maintain the integrity and accuracy of equipment monitoring and controlling regulated systems
  • Provide detailed equipment record keeping and database management
  • Troubleshoot and repair DCS equipment, including tuning, configuration, process databases, reporting, system diagnosis, and module replacement/restoration
  • Calibrate, test, configure, and maintain environmental monitoring systems in accordance with regulatory requirements
  • Monitor, tune, and repair integrated control systems operating critical station equipment
  • Troubleshoot, calibrate, repair, and verify process control instrumentation including transmitters, meters, controllers, indicators, analyzers, actuators, positioners, and motor-operated valves
  • Maintain equipment history for instrumentation and control systems
  • Program and configure programmable logic controllers
  • Configure, test, and maintain radio control Canopy systems for remote equipment control and environmental monitoring
  • Maintain and repair plant communications and emergency warning systems
  • Maintain communication and security systems in accordance with NERC, cyber, and physical security regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Report to the Instrument & Control Manager

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must be recommended based on the Power Plant Maintenance Selection System (MASS) results
  • Two-year Associates Degree in Electronic/Electrical/Mechatronics discipline or related field and 3 years of experience as an I&C Technician in an industrial setting; OR equivalent military training and 3 years of experience; OR High School diploma/GED and either 5 years of I&C Technician experience, completion of an I&C Technician apprentice program, or other qualifying work experience/demonstrated performance
  • Ability to troubleshoot, calibrate, configure, test, maintain, and repair instrumentation and control systems
  • Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS)
  • Ability to program/configure programmable logic controllers using application software from various manufacturers
  • Ability to maintain environmental monitoring, communication, security, and emergency warning systems
  • Knowledge of EPA, NDEE, NRD, NERC, cyber, and physical security regulations
  • United States citizenship/nationality, lawful permanent residence, or legal authorization to work in the United States
  • Ability to travel up to 25%, typically within Nebraska, with minimal overnight stays
