About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage a team of engineers, drafters, designers, and/or technicians
- Ensure accurate, timely, and quality completion of assigned Electrical Engineering scopes
- Assist in developing, enforcing, and implementing departmental Standard Best Practices
- Mentor and coach team employees and support their professional growth
- Perform detailed design of electrical power systems, including diagrams, schematics, SCADA, communications, conduit and cable sizing/routing, grounding, equipment selection, specifications, cost estimates, and scheduling
- Prepare computer-based models and perform power system studies, including short circuit, load flow, relay coordination, arc flash, motor starting, power factor, and harmonic analysis
- Develop, set, test, wire, and install protective relaying and control systems
- Review equipment data sheets, manuals, testing reports, submittals, and engineering work
- Identify value engineering and design-efficiency opportunities
- Assign and coordinate work with entry-level engineers, technicians, and administrative staff
- Support business development, marketing tasks, and proposal preparation
- Assist with engineering budgets, scope expectations, and technical change-order write-ups
- Provide field assistance, troubleshooting, and observation reports
- Maintain knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and construction practices
- Maintain Company-Client relationships and uphold ethical and professional standards
- Attend training, conferences, workshops, seminars, and classes as appropriate
- Attend safety training and follow safety rules and guidelines
- Complete additional job-related responsibilities as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution
- 5+ years of relevant engineering or field experience
- FE is required; PE is preferred
- Knowledge and familiarity with medium and low voltage distribution, switchgear, motor control centers, and industrial instrumentation and controls
- Proficiency with AutoCAD
- High proficiency with power system software such as DIgSILENT/PowerFactory, EasyPower, ETAP or SKM, CDEGS, and CYMCAP preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and standard computer software
- Proven record of delivering a high standard of quality work with attention to detail
- Ability to develop staff through mentoring and coaching
- A strong command of the English language
- Good interpersonal and people skills
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
- Renewable (solar, wind, BESS, etc.) experience is a plus, but not required
- Must be able to lift 50lbs
