About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Personally handle all aspects of the claims process, liaising with customers, internal teams, and external stakeholders
  • Use email, telephone, and workflow systems to communicate
  • Update all logs accurately and on time
  • Plan, organise, and prioritise workloads to meet agreed service levels
  • Assess the circumstances of each assigned case
  • Keep customers informed of case progress through phone and written correspondence
  • Liaise with other business areas and maintain records of correspondence, decisions, and rationale
  • Manage external stakeholders and compile case files and relevant information
  • Keep product knowledge up to date
  • Provide feedback to business teams
  • Review and challenge current processes and suggest improvements to the customer journey

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum 1+ years’ experience in insurance claims handling
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrable attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Working knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements in Financial Services
  • Working knowledge of Canadian life insurance policies, regulations, and industry standards (desirable)
  • Knowledge of practice and procedures in a highly regulated Financial Services environment (desirable)
  • Experience working with external stakeholders as part of the claims handling process (desirable)
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise effectively while maintaining quality
  • Ability to operate well under pressure
  • Good listening and analytical skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • High level of organisational skills and ability to clear work to same-day deadlines
  • Ability to embrace change in a fast-paced environment
