About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Participate in and drive activities related to the monthly close process
  • Prepare accurate and timely journal entries supported by well-documented analysis
  • Research and resolve business matters with accounting implications
  • Perform monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and analysis, including inventory, fixed assets, and payroll accounts
  • Own and lead cost and inventory functions within the accounting team
  • Perform core general ledger and month-end close responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate standard and actual costs
  • Manage inventory and purchasing accounting activities
  • Track and monitor freight
  • Partner with Operations to lead, monitor, and execute regular inventory counts
  • Perform functions in accordance with company, GAAP, and tax policies and procedures
  • Maintain lease accounting schedules in compliance with ASC 842
  • Provide technical support to leadership and outside auditors
  • Develop spreadsheet reports and provide meaningful analysis to management
  • Coordinate with internal and external audit and tax requests
  • Support ad-hoc month-end, audit, and internal controls compliance projects
  • Report directly to the Director of Accounting
  • Support the Senior Controller, CFO, and other senior leaders
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • CPA preferred; MBA a plus
  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • At least 2 years working under a Controller
  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP and tax accounting principles
  • Experience leading, monitoring, and executing inventory count processes
  • Solid understanding of the inventory environment and associated financial processes
  • Knowledge of supply chain, receiving, inventory flow, operations, process, and distribution principles
  • Strong proficiency in Sage Intacct or similar ERP systems
  • Ability to analyze transactional-level detail and articulate key findings to management
  • Advanced Excel skills, including financial modeling and data visualization
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent project and time management abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt in a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to be a team player and develop into a manager/leader of people in future roles
  • CPA certification preferred, not required
