About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead global sourcing, supplier strategy, cost management, and supply-chain development for custom mechanical and electromechanical components
- Develop and execute commodity strategies for metals, plastics, displays, custom transformers, magnetics, and related components
- Drive supplier consolidation, dual sourcing, risk mitigation, cost reduction, quality improvement, capacity, lead-time reduction, and continuity of supply
- Identify, evaluate, qualify, and develop global suppliers for complex Build-to-Print manufacturing requirements
- Lead RFIs, RFQs, RFPs, and competitive sourcing activities
- Perform quote analysis, should-cost modeling, supplier benchmarking, and total-cost-of-ownership analysis
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, rebates, tooling, NRE, MOQ, lead times, inventory programs, and commercial agreements
- Analyze raw material trends, market conditions, capacity constraints, tariffs, and supply-chain risks
- Support design-to-cost, supplier optimization, material substitution, and manufacturing-process improvements
- Serve as commodity subject matter expert for mechanical and electromechanical manufacturing technologies
- Partner with Engineering and suppliers on DFM, manufacturability, material selection, tooling, process optimization, and cost reduction
- Support prototype, NPI, production ramp, and engineering-change activities
- Collaborate with Quality teams on supplier performance, corrective actions, audits, and continuous improvement
- Own strategic supplier relationships and monitor quality, delivery, lead time, capacity, cost, responsiveness, and service
- Conduct supplier business reviews, factory visits, capability assessments, and supplier audits
- Establish supplier KPIs and act as the primary escalation point for critical supplier issues
- Develop supplier capacity strategies aligned with current and future demand
- Partner with Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, Quality, Program Management, Finance, and Executive Leadership
- Present sourcing strategies, supplier recommendations, cost-reduction opportunities, capacity risks, and mitigation plans to leadership
- Drive global standardization of suppliers, pricing structures, specifications, contracts, and payment terms
- Lead cross-functional initiatives improving cost, quality, delivery, technology, and supply-chain resilience
- Travel globally, up to 50%, including supplier visits, business reviews, factory audits, sourcing events, quality escalations, and supplier-development activities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related technical field
- 7+ years of experience in commodity management, strategic sourcing, supply chain, procurement, or supplier development
- Strong experience with custom fabricated parts or EMS-related manufacturing commodities
- Experience leading RFQ/RFP processes, supplier negotiations, and commercial agreements
- Strong analytical and cost modeling skills, including TCO and market analysis
- Knowledge of fabrication technologies, manufacturing processes, materials, lead times, and supplier capabilities
- Strong communication, negotiation, and supplier management skills
- Ability to travel globally based on business needs, up to 50%
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Proficiency with ERP systems, Excel, and supply chain analytics tools
- Strong experience in engineering purchasing, contract negotiation, material or production planning, operations or supply chain management, material cost control, master production scheduling, or technical procurement/planning with custom or electrical components
- U.S. Citizen required due to ITAR and/or CUI compliance
- Pre-employment background check and drug test required
- Preferred: experience in EMS, aerospace, defense, medical, industrial, or high-reliability manufacturing environments
- Preferred: knowledge of supplier qualification methodologies and manufacturing quality standards
- Preferred: experience managing global suppliers across the U.S., Mexico, and Asia
- Preferred: strong understanding of supply chain risk mitigation and dual sourcing strategies
- Preferred: experience supporting BTP manufacturing operations
- APICS, CPM, CPSM, or related certifications preferred
