About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Swing the jib arm and control pan, tilt, focus, and zoom to execute fluid camera movements like overheads, reveals, and tracking shots
  • Assemble, align, and weight the crane system safely before production begins, ensuring proper counterweight balance
  • Monitor the physical footprint and counterweight clearance of the jib to protect talent, crew, and equipment on set
  • Operate television or motion picture cameras to record scenes for television broadcasts, advertising, or motion pictures
  • Compose and frame each shot, applying technical aspects of light, lenses, film, filters, and camera settings to achieve directors' desired effects
  • Follow production instructions, shot lists, and safety procedures
  • Collaborate and maintain clear communications with directors, camera operators, and production departments
  • Operate and maintain circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, computer hardware and software, applications, and programming
  • Test, clean, and maintain equipment before, during, and after each assignment
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associates or Bachelors Degree in Broadcasting or Communications preferred; a combination of education and experience will be considered
  • 3 years of experience preferred with proven experience operating camera jib
  • Ability to stand for long hours and have arm-hand steadiness and near/far visualization
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems timely
  • Ability to work in an individual or team environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Available to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays when needed
  • Reliable, punctual and professional demeanor
  • Must be willing and able to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs., and willing to seek assistance for anything over 50 lbs.
