Senior Finance Analyst – Commercial Performance, Investment Review

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Prepare and complete Post Investment Reviews for qualifying Investment Appraisals
- Compare original investment appraisal or business case assumptions with actual financial and operational performance
- Identify and quantify drivers of over- and under-performance
- Assess whether financial and strategic benefits in original investment appraisals have been realized
- Identify practical actions to improve existing contracts and investments
- Track actions arising from reviews and maintain accurate records for regional and Group reporting
- Identify recurring trends such as forecast bias, pricing issues, cost assumptions and execution challenges
- Apply completed review insights to improve future Investment Appraisals and business cases
- Develop historical performance benchmarks to test revenue, margin, cost and investment assumptions
- Support consistent approaches to benefits realization and commercial performance measurement
- Maintain and administer regional rate cards
- Coordinate rate-card reviews and refreshes with Commercial, Finance and Operational teams
- Monitor approved rate-card usage and analyze discounting and pricing performance
- Support governance of deviations from standard rate cards and ensure appropriate approvals
- Analyze the financial impact of pricing changes and support agreed pricing actions
- Build relationships across regional Finance, Commercial, Sales and Operational teams
- Present review findings and recommendations to senior regional stakeholders
- Serve as a regional contact for Group Commercial Finance on reviews, benefits realization and rate-card governance
Requirements
What you’ll need- Qualified accountant or equivalent finance qualification
- Ideally 2–3 years of post-qualified experience in commercial finance, FP&A, business partnering or a similar analytical role
- Demonstrable post-qualified experience operating at Senior Finance Analyst level
- Strong financial analysis, Excel and modelling skills
- Firm grasp of P&L, revenue, margin and EBITDA drivers
- Experience reviewing business cases, commercial contracts, investment proposals or project profitability
- Ability to translate financial and operational data into clear commercial insights and recommendations
- Strong communication skills, including explaining complex analysis clearly and challenging assumptions constructively
- Ability to build credibility with senior Finance, Commercial and Operational stakeholders
- Desirable: experience in a project, contract or service-based business, ideally multi-region or international
- Desirable: experience of pricing, rate cards, commercial bids or contract profitability analysis
- Desirable: experience of investment appraisal, benefits realization or post-investment reviews
- Commercially minded and curious about business performance drivers
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
- Comfortable bringing structure to complex commercial issues and imperfect data
- Detail-focused while maintaining the broader commercial perspective
- Proactive self-starter able to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to work effectively across Finance, Commercial and Operations
