About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Conduct planned maintenance on plant equipment
- Install, service, repair, and maintain existing and new instrumentation equipment
- Set and adjust devices within permitted tolerances to ensure safe and efficient machinery operation
- Prevent breakdowns through patrols and continuously improve equipment performance
- Attend to instrumentation faults and factory breakdowns
- Calibrate CCP equipment and instrumentation, including metal detectors and X-ray equipment
- Repair and maintain date-coding equipment
- Improve low-cost automation
- Manage small projects
- Perform fault-finding and programming on instrumentation equipment, PLCs, and VSDs
- Analyze and investigate recurring faults and complete efficient first-time-right repairs
- Ensure machine availability to meet production targets
- Correct errors on drawings and update drawings
- Complete administrative tasks for AMM, SHE, CDM, and MDWT
- Participate actively in CDM and MDWT activities
- Interact with production personnel, suppliers, and contractors
- Ensure dangerous conditions are made safe immediately and protect product safety
Requirements
What you’ll need- Matric and N6 Certificate or equivalent
- Served Apprenticeship and qualified with a Trade Test Certificate [Electrical & instrumentation]
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in the instrumentation field
- Computer literate in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SAP, and AMM
- In-depth knowledge of PLCs
- Ability to work shifts, standby, and overtime as required
- Compliance with SANS code 10142-1:2003 and internal engineering, quality, safety, health, and environmental standards
- Ability to use lockout and permit procedures
