About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Operate the Extructor machine and troubleshoot as necessary to produce quality products
  • Pick up equipment and recipes required for scheduled production before each shift
  • Complete accurate paperwork
  • Eliminate cheese waste throughout the operation
  • Complete scrap and WIP tickets at the end of the shift
  • Obtain and calibrate scales when needed
  • Verify cheese or other commodity appearance meets recipe standards and check for off odors
  • Keep cheese and mixtures covered and labeled
  • Remove condensation from walls, equipment, and ceilings before startup and monitor throughout the shift
  • Model the Springville Compass in work-related activities
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Team Leader

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Understand verbal and written instructions in English
  • Basic proficiency in English, including reading and speaking standard words and sentences
  • Follow safety rules and procedures and wear required protective equipment
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), USDA policies, and the food safety program
  • Identify sub-standard ingredients, products, or procedures and take corrective action
  • Weigh commodities accurately
  • Add, subtract, and multiply
  • Maintain legible handwriting
  • Work in temperatures ranging from 35°F to 100°F
  • Stand at a workstation for 9–10 hours with scheduled breaks
  • Work at least 40 hours per week on an assigned shift, with required emergency and weekend overtime
  • Push/pull equipment weighing up to 400 lbs. over distances up to 1,000 feet
  • Lift/carry ingredient boxes up to 50 lbs. and pans up to 40 lbs. repeatedly
  • Open, lift, and transport approximately 50-lb. cases of cheese or other commodities continuously throughout a shift
  • Function effectively as a team member or independently with minimum supervision
  • 90 days of food manufacturing experience working in a Nestlé factory preferred
