About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Ensure employee safety, product quality, asset performance, and on-time delivery of the shift/line/area production plan
- Lead a team of approximately 30 employees
- Participate in hiring, employee onboarding, performance management, and corrective action
- Deploy people development plans and ensure team competencies through training
- Enforce SOP, SSOP, manufacturing instruction, regulatory, and policy compliance
- Maintain a safe work environment and updated work instructions
- Communicate and manage activities with environmental impact according to environmental management requirements
- Ensure quality objectives through GMP adherence, sanitation audits, food safety checks, and product quality checks
- Enforce personnel hygiene and safety practices
- Coach employees using the NCE approach and review daily target achievement
- Report variances and implement action plans addressing root causes of failures
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and facilitate shift handoffs
- Perform continuous line controls and immediate corrective actions
- Manage employee and industrial relations to maintain smooth factory operations
- Distribute skills effectively to achieve the production plan
- Launch new products to market on schedule
- Coordinate installation maintenance with quality, engineering, and administration
- Review maintenance effectiveness and identify improvement opportunities
- Prioritize, schedule, and ensure maintenance and repairs to maximize efficiency
- Travel requirement of 5%
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree AND 2 years of leadership experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment; OR 5 years of supervisory/management experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment; OR 2 years in a leadership role in the United States Military
- Work extended days and/or weekends with flexibility to switch shifts as required
- Willingness to work in a factory where ambient conditions may be extremely cold, wet or warm
- Experience in food processing or packaging preferred
- Experience in Supply Chain and/or Inventory Control preferred
- Experience in Quality and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP’s) in a food processing environment preferred
- 1 year of experience in a Continuous Improvement environment preferred
- Ability to maintain a safe working environment through proper housekeeping and safety practices
- Excellent oral, written, and listening communication skills
- Ability to facilitate group coaching and information sharing
- Ability to motivate, mentor, and coach employees
- Ability to manage multiple priorities through strong organizational skills
- Ability to set effective and challenging objectives
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting through root cause problem solving
- Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office, NT/XP/Vista version(s)
