About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the design, implementation and start-up of capital investment projects across the manufacturing site
  • Translate project charters and technical specifications into safe, compliant and effective delivery
  • Lead capital investment projects from definition through implementation and start-up, maintaining focus on agreed scope, budget and timing
  • Embed Health, Safety and Environmental requirements throughout project activity and ensure work follows legislation, site rules and Nestlé standards
  • Escalate incidents or concerns
  • Coordinate commissioning of plant and equipment against agreed standards and support controlled handover into site operations
  • Plan and oversee third-party activity on site, setting expectations and monitoring delivery, safety and quality
  • Work with Operations, R&D, Marketing, Logistics and other site teams to align project scope, dependencies, timing and budget
  • Support development of project scopes, cost estimates and timing plans for CapEx investments of up to £5 million+
  • Apply effective financial control throughout project delivery
  • Manage risk and help ensure each investment delivers its intended value

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Apprenticeship training, an HNC or a degree in an engineering discipline, or an equivalent technical qualification
  • Experience of managing or supporting capital projects within a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering
  • Practical knowledge of relevant Health & Safety requirements, including machinery safety, CE marking and PUWER
  • Ability to manage project costs through review, control, forecasting, purchasing and supplier negotiation
  • Ability to coordinate colleagues, contractors and cross-functional partners while communicating project priorities clearly
  • A recognised project management qualification such as PMI, PRINCE2 or an equivalent is desirable
  • Exposure to capital project delivery within FMCG or another fast-paced, regulated environment is desirable
  • Knowledge of CDM regulations and their application to project delivery is desirable
  • Familiarity with water resources and the delivery of water from source is desirable
  • Knowledge of building works, planning requirements and environmental agencies is desirable
  • Experience of SAP or a comparable enterprise system is desirable
