About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Direct plant production activities and lead the production team to produce and ship quality products
  • Oversee full plant operations in the absence of the Plant Manager
  • Set and implement strategic direction for the plant
  • Plan, organize, and schedule production capacity, manpower, equipment, and outside resources to minimize losses
  • Operate within the budget to optimize company profitability
  • Resolve quality, scheduling, engineering, operational, and employee issues
  • Mentor direct and indirect management employees
  • Directly manage 8 Supervisors and indirectly supervise approximately 170 salaried and hourly employees
  • Coach on crewing and budgeting processes and troubleshoot productivity and cost variance issues
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain to fulfill production and shipment requirements
  • Participate in budget preparation, capital expenditure recommendations, manpower and space forecasting
  • Select, train, and promote management employees
  • Lead plant safety and environmental activities
  • Ensure safety and environmental programs are communicated and completed
  • Ensure proper investigation of injuries, incidents, and accidents
  • Review investigations and take action to prevent future occurrences

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Operation Management or related field highly preferred
  • Five to seven years of progressive operational managerial experience in a food or beverage industrial setting required
  • Exposure to a union workforce beneficial
  • Experience utilizing or spearheading continuous improvement methodologies; TPM preferred
  • Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills
  • Ability to analyze data
  • Ability to solve problems effectively and influence others at all levels
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to coach and develop others
