About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Safely operate and maintain all plant utilities
  • Operate and maintain ammonia/CO2 refrigeration systems
  • Operate and maintain steam, hot water boiler, hot water heating, glycol, and HVAC systems
  • Maintain fire protection, compressed air, and safety systems
  • Perform maintenance and repair of HVAC and industrial NH3 refrigeration systems
  • Troubleshoot and repair refrigeration components, including valves, pumps, electrical controls, and compressors
  • Perform building maintenance and support packaging and production maintenance during critical situations
  • Work with contractors as needed
  • Complete required documentation and system transactions for governmental agencies and Nestlé policies
  • Maintain quality control and follow company safety guidelines
  • Perform job rotations based on production needs
  • Dispose of trash and thoroughly clean the work area
  • Work assignments and overtime as directed by the supervisor
  • Maintain regular and timely attendance
  • Participate in ongoing training
  • Fill in for vacations/absences and remain on call 24/7
  • No supervisory responsibilities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school education or GED; listed with RETA/CIRO certification as preferred
  • Completion of the Nestlé Refrigeration training Matrix within the first two years in the role
  • RETA CIRO certification within a two-year time frame is required
  • Must pass physical capacity evaluation examination
  • Ability to operate and maintain ammonia/CO2 refrigeration, steam and hot water boiler, hot water heating, glycol, HVAC, fire protection, compressed air, and safety systems
  • Ability to perform HVAC and industrial NH3 refrigeration maintenance and repair
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair refrigeration components, including valves, pumps, electrical controls, and compressors
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple to more complex instructions, formulas, policies, and procedures
  • Ability to write simple correspondence and present information in one-on-one and small-group situations
  • Basic mathematical ability involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and measurement units
  • Good computer knowledge and ability to use the internal inventory system accurately
  • Ability to apply common sense to detailed written or oral instructions and solve standardized problems
  • Ability to meet physical demands including climbing, crouching, pushing/pulling, and lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work Sunday–Thursday, third shift, overtime, and be on call 24/7
  • Formal OSHA PSM/RMP and HAZMAT training and participation preferred
