About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own the general ledger and ensure accuracy, completeness, and U.S. GAAP compliance
Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close calendars and reduce close cycle time
Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and journal entries
Perform financial, variance, and flux analysis and develop performance metrics
Manage accounts payable staff and the procure-to-pay process
Review and approve payment batches and annual 1099 filing
Mentor accounting staff through coaching, training, and professional development
Coordinate sales and use tax filings, amendments, nexus reviews, registrations, and Avalara administration
Manage registered agents for annual state filings
Prepare audit, tax compliance, and tax provision supporting schedules
Support international accounting, including VAT/GST filings, reporting packages, intercompany reconciliations, and STAT-to-GAAP reconciliations
Lead system implementations and process-improvement projects to automate work and strengthen internal controls
Produce ad hoc reports, reconciliations, and analyses for Finance and business partners
Build working relationships across the company
Report to the Assistant Controller and manage/develop accounting team members

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role
Hands-on experience managing accounts payable operations
Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, the month-end close, and internal controls
Proficiency with accounting and business systems such as NetSuite, Salesforce, Avalara, and Expensify
Advanced Excel skills
Proven ability to coach and develop staff and set team priorities during close and audit periods
Clear written and verbal communication, strong attention to detail, and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Collaborative, self-directed approach with initiative to improve processes
Manual dexterity for repetitive computer use
Ability to sit for extended periods and remain stationary
