About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as Netflix Animation Studios' founding data scientist
  • Partner with leadership to define and prioritize the studio's metrics and science agenda
  • Scope ambiguous, greenfield questions and deliver analysis and science that influence data-informed thinking
  • Own the end-to-end measurement agenda with data engineering

  • Develop scenario planning models to quantify the impact of schedule changes on production and workforce allocation
  • Build dashboards and scorecards to monitor show statuses and potential risks
  • Present metrics, models, and analytical insights to leadership
  • Collaborate with data scientists, analytics engineers, and data engineers across Media Science DSE

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Advanced degree in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Economics, Operations Research, or a related quantitative field (or equivalent practical experience)
  • 8+ years of experience as a data scientist
  • Track record of developing and executing measurement frameworks, models, and visualization products that directly inform business decisions
  • Experience building scenario planning, forecasting, or optimization models in operationally complex, resource-constrained environments
  • Strong quantitative and statistical intuition
  • Ability to move between exploratory analysis, new metric construction, model development, and applied problem solving
  • Ability to translate ambiguous business questions into structured analytical workstreams
  • Skilled at building dashboards and visualizations for business leadership audiences
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to operate with minimal oversight in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Interest in working within a film studio and building a new data science capability from the ground up
