About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage referral and case activity to ensure timely follow-up and/or hospital response
  • Oversee new and open referrals remotely
  • Dispatch staff 24 hours a day, 365 days a year
  • Assess donor suitability and determine the necessary response using ICU-level medical records, lab values, diagnoses, and medical history
  • Collaborate with NEDS team members and hospital partners in Critical Care/ICU settings
  • Prioritize and coordinate multiple cases during stressful and changing situations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Ability to work remotely for a mix of 16-hour and 8-hour shifts
  • RRCs currently work two 16-hour day shifts and one 8-hour overnight shift per week
  • Ability to communicate effectively and provide good customer service in a Critical Care/ICU setting
  • Basic understanding of pathophysiology and critical-care-level hemodynamics
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret electronic medical records of patients receiving ICU-level care to assess donor suitability and required response
  • Ability to respond to changing needs and prioritize effectively during times of stress
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask cases
  • Adherence to standards of practice
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, NEDS internal systems (e.g. True North), and hospital EMRs
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Three to five years’ experience in a related field
  • Critical care (hospital or pre-hospital) or OPO experience required
  • Previous OPO experience as a Donation Coordinator or in organ donor referral management strongly preferred
  • Must be available to be onsite in Waltham, Massachusetts for one week of New Hire Orientation
