About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design, develop, and optimize Java backends and microservices using Spring Boot
- Design REST APIs and event-driven communication between distributed systems
- Translate business requirements, epics, and user stories into technical solutions
- Advise on architectural decisions
- Enhance existing applications, refactor code, and optimize data access and performance
- Support the operation of containerized applications on OpenShift and Kubernetes
- Further develop CI/CD and GitOps processes
- Implement security requirements for authentication, authorization, and data protection
- Ensure software quality through automated testing, code reviews, and error analysis
- Improve monitoring, logging, and tracing
- Support production rollouts
- Collaborate with business departments and technical teams, participate in workshops, and document solutions clearly and transparently
Requirements
What you’ll need- Completed degree in IT or a comparable qualification
- At least five years of hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservice architectures, unit testing, Git, and Maven
- At least three years of experience with OpenShift or Kubernetes, GitLab CI/CD, and automated delivery, for example with Argo CD
- At least three years of experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and Spring Data JPA
- Strong experience with test automation, integration and UI testing, and code reviews
- Experience with Mockito, WireMock, and Cucumber/Gherkin
- At least three years of hands-on experience with IT security and data protection, as well as OWASP Top 10, OpenID Connect, and OAuth 2.0
- At least two years of experience with monitoring and observability, for example Grafana and Prometheus, as well as logging, tracing, and troubleshooting production applications
- Experience working in agile teams, refining and estimating user stories, and collaborating with business departments
- At least two years of experience providing subject-matter consulting in the statutory health-insurance sector, conducting workshops and presentations, and preparing technical documentation
- Very good German language skills, at least C1 level
- Additional advantages: Angular, Google Lit or Thymeleaf, GraalVM and native images, Camunda, JMeter, SOAP, or knowledge of BITMARCK, particularly BITMARCK_21c|ng
