About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Configure, deploy, maintain, and optimize enterprise-grade firewalls, IPS/IDS, VPN concentrators, and load balancers
- Ensure appliance performance, availability, and health across sites and cloud environments
- Develop, implement, audit, and review firewall and IPS/IDS policies and rulesets
- Monitor logs and alerts, respond to security incidents, and detect threats
- Design and maintain application load balancing for high availability, traffic distribution, and performance optimization
- Configure and support site-to-site and remote access VPNs
- Monitor device health, performance, and threats; investigate incidents and conduct root cause analysis
- Deploy and manage cloud security appliances, WAFs, and VPNs in AWS and Azure
- Develop and maintain Python, Bash, and PowerShell scripts for automation, backups, and reporting
- Maintain appliance configuration documentation, SOPs, and change logs
- Ensure compliance with ISO, PCI, GDPR, and internal security requirements
- Collaborate with Security, Infrastructure, and ServiceDesk teams on network security projects
- Provide escalation support and knowledge transfer to IT staff
- Conduct security assessments and vulnerability scans
- Recommend and implement security best practices, technologies, and process improvements
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field
- At least 2 years’ hands-on experience managing network security appliances, firewalls, and load balancers in enterprise or cloud environments
- Proficiency configuring and troubleshooting Palo Alto, Fortinet, Juniper, and Check Point firewalls
- Proficiency with F5 and Citrix ADC load balancers
- Solid understanding of IPS/IDS systems and network architecture integration
- Experience with AWS and Azure cloud security, including cloud-native security appliances
- Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, and VLANs
- Experience with IPSec and SSL VPNs, access control, and secure remote access
- Experience with network monitoring, management, and automation tools
- Strong scripting and automation skills in Python, Bash, and PowerShell
- Familiarity with ISO, PCI, GDPR, and related regulatory requirements
- Relevant certifications such as PCNSE, Fortinet NSE, F5 Certified BIG-IP Admin, CCNA/CCNP Security, CompTIA Security+, or similar are preferred
- Experience with Zero Trust, WAFs, DDoS mitigation, secure hybrid and multi-cloud networks, B2B and B2C environments, Ansible, or Terraform is preferred
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and documentation abilities
