About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Evaluate, qualify, and approve suppliers of metal structures, welding, machining, casting, and surface treatment
  • Conduct supplier qualification audits and support Procurement in technical and qualitative supplier selection
  • Define and monitor strategic supplier development plans
  • Evaluate supplier production capacity, technical expertise, and quality-system maturity
  • Ensure purchased components comply with drawings, technical specifications, and regulatory requirements
  • Manage component approval and product/process change processes
  • Verify supplier Control Plans, Inspection Plans, and Process Flows
  • Support First Article Inspection and Product Validation activities
  • Coordinate sampling and initial validation activities
  • Plan and execute supplier system, process, and product audits; prepare reports and monitor corrective-action closure
  • Manage supplier nonconformities, containment, sorting, and rework activities
  • Request and evaluate 8D and Root Cause Analysis reports
  • Monitor corrective-action effectiveness
  • Manage exemptions and concessions with relevant functions
  • Analyze supplier quality trends and implement performance improvement plans
  • Collaborate with Procurement, Engineering, Manufacturing, Incoming Inspection, Project Management, and Supply Chain
  • Participate in technical reviews and meetings with strategic suppliers

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or equivalent engineering, or a technical diploma with significant experience
  • At least 5 years of experience in Supplier Quality, Manufacturing Quality, or Quality Engineering roles
  • Direct experience with metalwork and mechanical component suppliers
  • Good command of English
  • Willingness to travel to national and international suppliers
  • In-depth knowledge of ISO 9001 standards
  • Knowledge of process and system audits
  • Nonconformity and corrective action management
  • Knowledge of 8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa, Pareto Analysis, FMEA, Control Plan, and SPC
  • Knowledge of metalwork, MIG/MAG/TIG welding, CNC machining, sheet metal and bending, mechanical assembly, surface treatments and painting
  • Knowledge of dimensional and geometric tolerances (GD&T)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Experience using calipers, micrometers, dial gauges, altimeters, and roughness testers
  • Ability to interpret dimensional reports and CMMs
  • Ability to analyze material and treatment certificates
  • Strong results orientation, technical leadership, negotiation, structured problem solving, analytical/data-driven approach, priority management, interpersonal and communication skills, and continuous improvement orientation
