About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide input and oversight of routings and bills of material (BOMs) supporting ERP material resource planning requirements
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate with production to schedule orders and meet customer commitments
  • Work with manufacturing, procurement, materials, engineering, quality, and logistics on lead times, schedule impacts, changes, and material shortages
  • Implement and improve work order routers with manufacturing engineering support
  • Create work order packages including pick tickets, correctly revised prints, and routers according to the planning schedule
  • Monitor work orders and project status to ensure schedules are met
  • Expedite delayed operations and adjust schedules for unforeseen conditions
  • Coordinate with Purchasing to expedite materials needed to meet delivery commitments
  • Maintain production schedules and work orders to ensure system integrity
  • Monitor ERP, shortage lists, and related indicators to ensure material availability and on-time customer delivery
  • Participate in teams addressing process-related improvements and changes
  • Attend cross-functional activities with quality assurance, manufacturing, purchasing, and engineering to support material flow
  • Identify and communicate material planning issues affecting production schedules
  • Ensure workflows, processes, and products comply with safety regulations
  • Serve as a coach and mentor for other departmental positions

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 5–6 years of experience in planning and/or production control
  • Experience utilizing an ERP/MRP system
  • Good investigative and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to think logically and methodically
  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Decision-making ability coupled with the ability to work independently and proactively
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel
  • Understanding of standard manufacturing and safety compliance processes
  • Experience with Marine Class societies preferred
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, talk and hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools, or controls
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. may be required
  • Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be accepted
