About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage ACD's U.S. Export Compliance Program, including control points that meet compliance requirements while minimizing the impact on business operations
  • Work cooperatively and proactively across the Group’s functional units to ensure that all exports comply with U.S. export laws and regulations
  • Manage and maintain export classification information, including ECCNs and Schedule B numbers, and submit commodity classification requests to BIS as needed
  • Support import compliance activities, including HTS classification, country of origin determinations, and coordination with customs brokers
  • Oversee daily import and export operations, ensuring timely movement of international shipments while maintaining trade-regulatory compliance
  • Supervise the Import/Export team, including direction, prioritization, training, coaching, work assignment, and performance management
  • Manage relationships with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and other logistics service providers
  • Review draft letters of credit and coordinate documents required for payment presentations
  • Maintain recordkeeping and reporting requirements to facilitate audits
  • Develop and deliver trade compliance training to employees
  • Serve as the primary contact for trade compliance and international logistics questions
  • Monitor regulatory changes and inform ACD and the Group as needed
  • Collaborate with Sales, Purchasing, Engineering, Manufacturing, Customer Service, Finance, and Nikkiso Group companies worldwide

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Strong understanding of U.S. export control laws and regulations, including the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) regulations
  • Working knowledge of U.S. import regulations and customs processes
  • Experience developing and maintaining export compliance policies and procedures
  • Experience conducting restricted party screenings
  • Experience using SNAP-R and ACE
  • Experience classifying commodities for export and import
  • Experience reviewing commercial letters of credit
  • Experience coordinating international freight movements
  • Experience managing relationships with freight forwarders and customs brokers
  • Experience with export control regimes in the EU and Asia, including sanctions programs is a plus
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus
  • Experience in international transportation and logistics operations is a plus
  • Excellent problem solving, strong analytical skills and sound judgment
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively while managing multiple competing priorities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Microsoft Office proficiency (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, International Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in export compliance, ideally with a manufacturing company
  • Ability to work in a professional office environment and routinely use standard office equipment
  • Ability to talk, hear, maintain close vision and adjust focus; ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand on a stool as necessary
