About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Plan, conduct and lead highly technical internal audit engagements.
  • Structure findings and prepare clear, prioritized, action-oriented audit reports.
  • Collaborate with auditees to define SMART action plans and monitor their implementation.
  • Conduct and coordinate selected engagements with specialized external firms, ensuring the overall quality of the work.
  • Contribute to the development of the multi-year audit plan and to risk assessments.
  • Analyze the quality of the Internal Audit Department’s services.
  • Continuously improve the department’s methods, tools and processes, and share expertise.
  • Provide functional guidance to less experienced auditors and support senior auditors when necessary.
  • Work on complex engagements covering all activities of SNCB and its subsidiaries.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • You hold a master’s degree in economics or a related field, or have equivalent experience.
  • You have at least 8 years of relevant internal audit experience.
  • You have a strong command of IIA Standards, internal audit methodologies and risk analysis.
  • You have excellent written communication skills.
  • You are proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access) and collaboration tools (Teams, SharePoint).
  • You have a good command of Dutch.
  • Critical, analytical and structured thinking.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Autonomy, accuracy, organizational skills and the ability to manage priorities.
  • Natural leadership and a coaching mindset.
  • Diplomacy and the ability to build constructive professional relationships.
