About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform cleaning, maintenance, food preparation, stocking, and serving duties in a commercial school kitchen, storeroom, dining, or serving area
- Wash objects by hand or with cleaning equipment
- Clean dishes, utensils, pots, and pans and store them in an organized manner
- Maintain product levels in preparation, serving, and storage areas, including service machines
- Stock storage areas with products
- Clean dining, kitchen, storage areas, equipment, and floors
- Remove garbage and set up or break down tables, snack bars, display cases, and serving lines
- Assist with periodically scheduled large cleaning projects
- Assist cooks and coordinate activities with others
- Prepare food or cook vegetables, entrees, coffee, sauces, and meats
- Perform other duties pertinent to the department or unit’s success
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must have some knowledge of food service or food preparation, or suitability for this type of work
- Must be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English
- Must be able to obtain Alaska Food Worker’s Card within 30 days of hire
- At least one (1) year of work experience or documented vocational training sufficient to demonstrate knowledge of cleaning equipment, food preparation, and general cleaning processes or suitability for this type of work preferred
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to frequently walk and stand; occasionally lift, pull, and push
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
