About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist customers with general information and inquiries
- Obtain products requested by customers
- Process room service orders, including patient/family-initiated orders following physician prescriptions
- Operate Point of Sale to record prices, compile printed lists, and display costs
- Prepare food products safely and efficiently according to standard food-handling procedures
- Wash and clean dishes, utensils, pots, pans, equipment, and kitchen items
- Maintain product levels in preparation, serving, storage, and service-machine areas
- Clean dining, kitchen, storage areas, rooms, equipment, and floors
- Remove garbage and set up or break down tables, snack bars, display cases, and serving lines
- Assist with scheduled large cleaning projects
- Participate in food quality and performance-improvement activities
- Assist cooks and coordinate activities with other staff
- Support the safety program
- Prepare or cook vegetables, entrees, coffee, sauces, meats, and other food items
- Perform other duties pertinent to department or unit success
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- At least six (6) months of experience within the food service industry
- Alaska Food Handler’s Card or ServSafe required within 30 days of hire
- Knowledge of proper food service sanitation methods and equipment
- Formal documented training, education, or experience demonstrating suitability for this type of work
- Must pass a fingerprinting background investigation complying with applicable child and vulnerable-person protection laws
- Must speak, understand, read, and write English
- Proof of TB immunization and other contract-designated immunizations and screenings
- Flu shot required pre-hire and annually thereafter
- May be required to maintain employee health records on site
- Must satisfy background restrictions for positions with regular contact or control over children, dependent adults, or vulnerable persons
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, handling, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking, hearing, seeing, tasting, smelling, carrying, and lifting
- One (1) year of customer service experience preferred
