About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Conduct risk assessments for automated equipment and systems
  • Design and implement solutions that comply with machine safety standards (ISO 12100, ISO 13849-1, CSA standards, etc.)
  • Participate in the integration and validation of automated systems in an industrial setting
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure regulatory and standards compliance, as well as the expected performance level of the facilities
  • Prepare technical documentation and risk assessment reports
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with clients and internal teams
  • Design customized technology solutions that optimize processes and increase plant productivity
  • Support clients in delivering high-value technology projects

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • University degree in electrical engineering, automation engineering, or a related discipline
  • 3 to 10 years of experience in industrial automation, including at least 2 years in machine safety
  • Strong knowledge of machine safety standards and regulations (ISO, CSA, IEC)
  • Ability to conduct risk assessments and propose suitable technical solutions
  • Excellent communication skills and a strong customer-service orientation
  • CMSE (Certified Machinery Safety Expert) certification — an asset
  • Experience in the aluminum smelting industry — an asset
  • Familiarity with robotics and advanced automation standards — an asset
  • Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs), industrial networks, and control systems — an asset
  • Applications from individuals authorized to work in Canada are implicitly relevant to the Quebec context; however, no explicit work authorization requirement is stated
