About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform gearbox disassembly/reassembly refurbishment, inspections, retrofits, and large component repairs
  • Provide gearbox repairs including full component replacements, bearing replacements, HSS/IMS repairs up-tower, full teardown, and refurbishment rebuilds
  • Diagnose, analyze, and resolve drivetrain issues
  • Conduct borescope inspections and reporting
  • Lead crane and rigging activities safely and effectively
  • Work with Resource Management to improve drivetrain processes
  • Use specialized tooling and equipment, including SKF high-pressure mounting/dismounting tooling, low-speed shrink disc tooling, load rigging, torque, and tension equipment
  • Identify potential hazards and communicate them to management
  • Follow defined instructions and schedules and execute plans as directed
  • Maintain business relationships with customers, subcontractors, and peers
  • Perform necessary administrative duties accurately
  • Use safety gear, protective equipment, and energy-control procedures
  • Maintain tools and equipment used for repair activities
  • Travel to project sites in the U.S. and Canada as needed for extended periods
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • A 2-year degree in wind turbine technology or a similar field is strongly preferred
  • 2-5 years of field service experience preferred with operations and maintenance, troubleshooting, inspections, large component exchanges, and repairs of wind turbines
  • Demonstrated use and understanding of power tools
  • Able to work independently and on a team in a fast-paced setting
  • Ability to be certified and work with both medium and high-voltage equipment
  • Maintain required training certifications such as rigger/signal person certification and crane calling certification
  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand drawings, schematics, instructions, and schedules
  • Intermediate computer skills, familiarity with internet-based programs, MS Office, and ability to generate data and reports using a computer
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Passport/ Canadian Passport to work in either location
  • Travel to project sites as required (up to 100% travel) in US & Canada
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally for extended periods of time and requires working overtime, including a flexible and variable work schedule as needed to meet business needs
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized for employment in the United States and will not require employer-sponsored work authorization now or in the future for employment in the United States and must be eligible to travel to Canada
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical administered by a medical examiner
  • Ability to meet specific OSHA and ANSI weight limits of 265 lbs. or less
  • Must possess a full valid driver’s license and be insurable under our auto insurance policy
  • Ability to climb turbine towers up to 100 meters as required
  • Work may involve lifting materials up to 70 pounds
  • Speak and understand English fluently
