About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the company’s mission to develop and deliver clean power plants that make 100% renewable energy a reality.
  • Work with PM Operations to implement corporate quality standards, operating procedures, training, internal auditing, and analytical technology across the site.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and product quality.
  • Serve as a key member of the Wind Farm Site leadership team and on-site representative of the Quality Manager.
  • Serve as the Site Manager contact for all quality issues and the key quality contact for outside agencies and Nordex.
  • Act as the on-site subject matter expert regarding Nordex IMS.
  • Prepare reports for the Site Manager and Quality Manager on quality issues and site activities.
  • Ensure quality personnel’s tools and equipment are accounted for and maintained.
  • Ensure on-site quality personnel follow appropriate standards and that IMS procedures are understood and enforced.
  • Monitor project plans and rotation schedules, anticipate staffing needs, and recommend staffing actions.
  • Monitor and report quality inspector attendance and performance issues.
  • Oversee administration of quality processes at the park.
  • Follow up on open actions and keep inspectors informed about quality processes and personnel matters.
  • Lead by example and enforce safety and quality standards.
  • Ensure tasks are understood, supervised, and completed; make timely decisions.
  • Manage Site NCRs and escalate critical or lingering issues as required.
  • Track, coordinate, and perform first-article audits for first-time construction-site processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Degree in technical or engineering field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years’ experience preferred.
  • Bilingual in French and English.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn, lead, and improve.
  • Experience in quality management/quality control processes.
  • Demonstrated small group leadership abilities, including the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management through reports, memos, and other written correspondence.
  • Ability to successfully interact with contractors, sub-contractors, and suppliers and commit to extended deployment at the wind farm project.
  • ASQ Certified and Certified ISO auditor preferred.
  • Analytical skills – must be able to reach conclusions and make recommendations based on collected data.
  • Wind Turbine Assembly experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage several activities at once, including organize and prioritize work, meet deadlines, and prepare reports.
  • Functions effectively under pressure in environments of rapid change and conflicting demands.
  • Strong computer skills including knowledge of MS office applications (i.e.: Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Follow oral and written instructions in English and communicate effectively with others in both oral and written form.
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate in English effectively to superiors, peers, and subordinates.
  • Strong ability to read, interpret and understand drawings and schematics to develop procedures, validate work activity, and ensure that risks are identified and mitigated.
  • Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods, climb stairs, use close-range radios, and perform required physical movements.
  • Ability to climb to heights of 60 to 100 meters and supervise work in confined space environments.
  • Work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
  • 90-100% travel required.
  • Ability to work in a construction environment and lift up to 23kg (50 pounds).
  • Ability to travel to domestic and international project sites and obtain a passport.
  • Must meet the weight requirement of 120kg (265 lbs.) or less to safely utilize climbing equipment and climbing gear.
  • Must be able to work in Canada with no Company sponsorship and have the ability to obtain a US passport.
  • Must possess a full valid driver’s license and be insurable under the company auto insurance policy.
  • Ability to successfully complete Canadian regulatory pre-employment screening requirements.
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical administered by a medical examiner.
  • Demonstrate commitment to safety protocols and procedures and comply with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Speak and understand English fluently to communicate safety and job-related information and follow safety instructions.
