About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Help lead a team providing a safe and well-maintained store environment for customers and employees
- Support the Facility Manager in ensuring stores are ready for business daily
- Ensure HVAC, vertical transportation, restaurants, entries and signs, and building systems are ready for daily operations
- Respond to break-fix and on-demand requests, perform advanced troubleshooting, and help delegate workorders
- Communicate with Store Leadership, participate in store meetings, support vendor relations, order parts, and set up meetings
- Support multiple Nordstrom Stores and Nordstrom Rack locations within a business node
- Lead and perform planned preventive maintenance on critical and non-critical equipment
- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems related to Store Operations
- Operate and monitor building controls, critical and non-critical building systems, and associated equipment
- Troubleshoot EMCS alarms and verify proper building operation
- Lead equipment and building rounds and readings; identify, mitigate, and report malfunctions
- Perform manual labor such as loading, unloading, lifting, and moving materials
- Assist with parts ordering, PO creation, vendor management, and job/project meetings
- Promote workplace safety and follow LOTO, PPE, ergonomics, working-at-heights, and machine-guarding procedures
- Attend store and vendor/project meetings in place of the Facility Manager and document outcomes
- Complete and document preventive maintenance routines; delegate and mentor technicians on system accuracy
- Assist the Facility Manager with technical training for new employees
- Respond to location emergencies
- Update the CMMS and maintain accurate equipment historical records
- Maintain parts inventory and order items as necessary
- Coordinate work with contractors, vendors, and Property Managers/Landlords
- Comply with applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency requirements, company directives, and work-safety standards
- Mentor other technicians and support their development
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma/GED required; Associates or higher degree from a vocational school or college preferred
- 5-7 years of hands-on facilities experience with an emphasis in mechanical maintenance
- 5+ years of experience conducting predictive and preventative maintenance procedures
- 5+ years of experience involving HVAC and refrigeration, carpentry, plumbing, electrical and mechanical skills for facilities and equipment repairs
- Ability to troubleshoot basic input and output functions
- Low voltage signal tracing and troubleshooting of logical devices
- Ability to work without supervision and meet multiple deadlines
- Effective written and verbal communication skills across all organizational levels
- Strong dedication to safe, customer-focused facilities support and high self-motivation
- Intermediate-level proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and applications
- Previous experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and ordering system (Coupa)
- Knowledge of computer networking systems and infrastructure
- Experience with electromechanical operation and maintenance
- Ability to maintain a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and off-hours
- Ability to stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs/ladders, and lift/carry 50 lbs. or more with or without reasonable accommodation
