About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Help lead a team providing a safe and well-maintained store environment
  • Support the Facility Manager in ensuring stores are ready for business daily
  • Ensure HVAC, vertical transportation, restaurants, entries and signs, and building systems are ready for daily operations
  • Respond to break-fix and on-demand requests, perform advanced troubleshooting, and help delegate work orders
  • Communicate with store leadership, participate in store meetings, support vendor relations, and assist with administrative tasks
  • Repair and maintain equipment and systems throughout multiple Nordstrom stores and Nordstrom Rack locations within a business node
  • Lead and perform scheduled preventive maintenance on critical and non-critical equipment
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems related to store operations
  • Operate and monitor building controls, building systems, and associated equipment
  • Troubleshoot EMCS alarms and verify proper building operation
  • Lead equipment and building rounds and readings; identify, mitigate, and report malfunctions
  • Perform manual labor, including loading, unloading, lifting, and moving materials
  • Order parts, create PO numbers, manage vendors, and attend job/project meetings
  • Follow safety procedures, including LOTO, PPE, ergonomics, working-at-heights, and machine-guarding requirements
  • Attend store, vendor, and project meetings on behalf of the Facility Manager and document outcomes
  • Complete and document preventive maintenance; delegate tasks and mentor technicians
  • Assist with technical training for new employees
  • Respond to location emergencies
  • Update the CMMS and maintain accurate equipment records and adequate parts inventory
  • Coordinate work with contractors, vendors, and property managers/landlords
  • Comply with applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency requirements, company directives, and work-safety rules
  • Mentor other technicians and assist with employee development

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Associates or higher degree from a vocational school or college preferred
  • 5-7 years of experience of hands-on facilities with an emphasis in mechanical maintenance
  • 5+ years of experience conducting predictive and preventative maintenance procedures
  • 5+ years of working experience involving HVAC and refrigeration, carpentry, plumbing, electrical and mechanical skills to perform facilities and equipment repairs
  • Able to troubleshoot basic input and output functions
  • Low voltage signal tracing and troubleshooting of logical devices
  • Able to work without supervision and appropriately meet multiple deadlines
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills across all organizational levels
  • Strong dedication to safe, customer-focused facility support
  • Highly self-motivated
  • Intermediate-level proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and applications
  • Previous experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and ordering system (Coupa)
  • Knowledge of computer networking systems and infrastructure
  • Experience with electromechanical operation and maintenance
  • Ability to maintain a flexible schedule: days, evenings, weekends, and off-hours may be required
  • Ability to stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs/ladders, and lift/carry loads of 50 lbs. or more with or without reasonable accommodation
