About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop products with increased style count in breadth and/or scope, engineered to cost standards, and review prototypes for quality, brand aesthetic, and design intent
- Ensure products meet minimum order quantities and follow the line plan
- Meet product development milestones and calendar due dates with pre-production tracking and reporting
- Lead negotiations with vendors through the product lifecycle, including costing, time and action, and minimums
- Lead and mentor other product developers through product development, calendar milestones, sourcing strategy, and adoption reporting
- Place developed and adopted styles in accordance with the Sourcing Strategy and provide ongoing recommendations
- Provide costing rollups for the brand or classification at final cost
- Identify raw materials and sourcing opportunities for efficiency and speed
- Identify root causes and process improvement opportunities
- Analyze and leverage company reports to review business and category needs and trends
- Partner with Merchandising, Design, Technical Design, and external vendor partners to create seasonal assortments
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree, preferred
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in product development, design or production in garment manufacturing
- Knowledge of raw materials and garment construction
- Experience working and communicating with domestic and international manufacturers
- Clear and effective written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills working with multiple leadership levels
- Ability to provide leadership, supervision and direction to peers through development process
- Ability to demonstrate strategic capabilities through cost engineering and cost negotiations
- Proficiency in Excel and Outlook
- Familiarity with a Product Lifecycle Management system, preferred
