About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform and assist with compliance assessments using standard auditing practices, including developing criteria and transactional testing techniques, reviewing and analyzing data and processes, documenting workpapers, and compiling reports
  • Develop and deliver reporting of risk assessment results and compliance risks/trends to internal business partners and legal and compliance departments
  • Serve as a compliance subject matter expert, advising on consumer compliance requirements and identifying and evaluating compliance and operational risks
  • Develop and facilitate training to strengthen first line compliance knowledge
  • Conduct regulatory and industry research and understand current business processes to determine applicable compliance requirements and best practices
  • Monitor, review, and communicate regulatory changes and guidance and assess their effect on business processes and controls
  • Support compliance issue remediation and enhancements and recommend corrective actions
  • Review trainings, internal communications, policies, procedures, customer-facing communications, consumer inquiries and complaints, and marketing materials for compliance
  • Provide compliance oversight of findings identified by Nordstrom Compliance, Internal Audit, and Bank partner
  • Build cross-functional relationships and drive alignment across the three lines of defense
  • Maintain compliance and professional knowledge through training, workshops, and publications
  • Assist with implementation of Nordstrom’s compliance management program

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 7+ years of experience in compliance, legal, risk management, or internal audit with experience performing compliance risk assessments and/or internal audits
  • In-depth knowledge of consumer compliance laws and regulations applicable to the marketing, financial services or retail industry
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Experience using AI tools to improve compliance work, such as research, analysis, and documentation
  • Willingness to drive AI tool adoption across the team
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and keep multiple projects and issues on track simultaneously
  • Self-directed ability to proactively identify needs and opportunities and formulate solutions with minimal supervision
