About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop innovative, clean, robust, and scalable full-stack solutions for complex ordering and integration problems
  • Collaborate with engineering teams, business stakeholders, program managers, and product managers across Merchandising, Planning, Vendor Compliance, and Supply Chain
  • Design, build, and maintain front-end applications, backend services, and integrations supporting purchase order management
  • Contribute to continuous integration, continuous delivery, cloud migration, test-driven development, and AI-enabled software development
  • Champion AI-enabled software development from intake and development through code review and testing
  • Design, develop, and ship AI agents for Merchandise Ordering, including evaluation, observability, and human-in-the-loop guardrails
  • Assist engineering managers with planning, analysis, and high-level software strategies and solutions
  • Own systems or designs spanning multiple people's work and break work into tasks for junior engineers
  • Apply industry trends, new technologies, corporate policies, and industry best practices
  • Participate in rotating 24/7 product-support shifts and deliver production enhancements and bug fixes

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in an engineering discipline, preferably computer science, or equivalent
  • 8+ years of professional experience in delivering quality software, ideally across the full stack
  • Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and modern frameworks such as React.js, Angular, or Vue.js
  • Hands-on experience with Node.js, Express.js, Java, .NET, Python (Django/Flask), or similar
  • Proficiency with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, cloud services (AWS, Azure, or GCP), and deployment best practices
  • Practical experience with AI-assisted software development using AI coding tools such as Claude, Claude Code, or GitHub Copilot
  • Experience building enterprise-level web applications from scratch
  • Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting and resolving front-end and backend issues
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments with cross-functional teams
  • Experience with system design, architecture, scaling, and performance testing
  • Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals
  • Willingness to work onsite at the Nordstrom Seattle office a minimum of 4 days/week
