About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead Network Engineering within Network and Infrastructure Operations
  • Own the network connecting 400+ stores, fulfillment centers, and distribution centers
  • Lead operation and modernization of Versa SD-WAN, cloud connectivity across AWS, Azure, GCP, and OCI, Juniper wired and Mist wireless, and data center fabrics
  • Run stand-ups and sprint planning and prioritize work across network domains
  • Review designs for SD-WAN, AWS Cloud WAN, Juniper campus and wireless, and VXLAN fabric projects
  • Collaborate with Store Technology, Fulfillment Operations, Cloud Architecture, Security, Infrastructure, CIS, and Edge teams
  • Monitor network health and lead incident response when services degrade
  • Hold 1:1s, coach engineers, support career growth, and help team members adopt coding, pull requests, and automation
  • Contribute to roadmap planning for SD-WAN, cloud connectivity, and wireless modernization
  • Participate in the Change Advisory Board and approve production changes
  • Analyze performance and cost data to tune routing, bandwidth, and cloud egress spend while meeting SLAs
  • Review automation and infrastructure-as-code repositories for peer review, testing, and rollback plans
  • Maintain backlog, roadmap, and initiatives in GitHub and Jira
  • Establish responsible AI-use practices with human review and audit records
  • Lead post-incident reviews and improve runbooks, alert tuning, and automation

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 10+ years of hands-on network engineering across on-premises enterprise infrastructure and cloud networking before moving into management
  • At least 3 years leading people or a technical team
  • Hands-on experience deploying or operating SD-WAN, ideally Versa Networks or a comparable platform
  • Solid understanding of cloud networking across AWS, Azure, GCP, and/or OCI, including Cloud WAN, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, VNet peering, and hybrid connectivity
  • Experience with enterprise wired and wireless networking, including Juniper EX/QFX switching, Mist AI wireless, or comparable platforms
  • Hands-on experience with data center fabrics, including VXLAN/EVPN design, BGP, and multi-tenant overlays
  • Deep knowledge of BGP, OSPF, WAN technologies, QoS, and network segmentation
  • Experience leading incident response, root cause analysis, and problem management
  • Experience with network automation and infrastructure-as-code using Ansible, Terraform, Python, or similar, plus GitOps and CI/CD
  • Real experience using AI in engineering or operations work
  • Experience managing work through GitHub Issues and Projects, Jira, or similar
  • Working knowledge of observability tools such as New Relic, Datadog, or Splunk
  • Experience building and developing engineering teams
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Ability to explain network issues in terms of business impact to engineers and executives
  • Experience managing vendors for network hardware, software licensing, and managed services
  • Preferred: Versa VOS, AWS Cloud WAN, Juniper Mist AI, AI agents or LLM-based tools, Temporal or StackStorm, ServiceNow workflows, VXLAN/EVPN, retail or fulfillment environments, segmentation and ZTNA, load testing, PCI-DSS/SOC2, industry certifications, Agile/Scrum, and network modernization or automation work
