About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead development of highly interactive web experiences for an innovative 3D home design platform used by millions worldwide
- Architect, implement, and optimize consumer-facing web applications connected to 3D capabilities
- Own technical direction, web quality, performance, and evolution of architectures, APIs, features, and the microservices cloud platform
- Solve complex and novel technical problems, explain trade-offs, and connect technical decisions to product and customer outcomes
- Balance hands-on product engineering with technical leadership, architecture, web quality, and Product/stakeholder partnership
- Guide engineers and drive technical decisions without direct people management
- Own and improve maintainable, performant, scalable web capabilities
- Coordinate complex technology roadmaps with distributed development teams and partners
- Partner with Product Managers, designers, leadership, service teams, and external partners
- Translate product goals into technical direction and communicate risks and trade-offs
- Design and build integrated customer experiences across online and in-store channels
- Conduct code reviews and maintain code and architecture quality
- Write and review software design documents
- Improve observability and performance
- Drive efficient and effective test automation
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field
- 7+ years of recent hands-on experience with modern JavaScript/TypeScript frontend development and React or equivalent component frameworks
- Deep expertise in state management, performance optimization, and frontend architecture
- 8+ years engineering substantial full-stack web codebases live in production, including ownership of systems at scale
- Experience understanding how frontend, backend, APIs, data, and infrastructure connect
- 3+ years providing technical leadership for small engineering teams of 3–6 engineers on business-critical projects
- Experience with mentoring, technical direction, hiring support, and improving engineering effectiveness; direct people management is not required
- 5+ years designing and shipping complex distributed systems, including API design, microservices integration, performance-critical architectures, and meaningful production ownership
- Strong foundations in Computer Science, software engineering, and structured problem solving
- Fluency with Internet web technologies and modern full-stack web application technology stacks
- Backend language experience may include Node, Python, Java, .NET, or equivalent technologies
- Familiarity with DevOps, observability, testing, and quality practices
- Ability to connect technical decisions to customer and business outcomes
- Ability to adjust calendar for meetings with Europe; Eastern Time location is preferred
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, distributed, and asynchronous engineering environment
- Advanced English level required for working with US clients
- Experience with consumer internet applications is strongly desired
- Experience with 3D graphics technologies is a plus, not required
- Experience building consumer retail e-commerce applications is a nice to have
