About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Prepare supplies and equipment for interventions using appropriate techniques.
  • Provide technical services and assist with surgical procedures under the supervision of the Director and/or Clinical Coordinator.
  • Assist with or perform patient procedures within the scope of unit-specific Skills Summation.
  • Seek assistance and support when necessary and assist in data collection.
  • Organize assigned aspects of patient care and maintain accountability for own practice and delegated functions.
  • Provide care consistent with the overall admission-to-post-discharge plan.
  • Provide safe intra-operative patient care, including specimen handling and medication labeling and handling.
  • Communicate referral needs to the RN and accurately process and communicate provider orders to the RN.
  • Facilitate efficient room turnovers and assist the surgical team as needed.
  • Assist with updating physician preference cards.
  • Integrate anatomy and physiology knowledge with surgical procedures while assisting the healthcare team.
  • Maintain, monitor, and restock equipment and supplies.
  • Manage equipment, supplies, and medications appropriately.
  • Prepare instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment for specific procedures and anticipate the surgeon's and patient's needs.
  • Report safety-related incidents through the Midas/RDE tool and monitor the work environment for safety issues.
  • Attend safety-related training and complete mandatory modules and job-specific training.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or GED- Required
  • Completion of OR Technician program- Required
  • BLS - Required
  • Employee will obtain and maintain appropriate clinical competencies for the roles assigned by their departmental leader.
  • Recent experience as OR Tech- Required
  • Previous experience in direct patient care setting as CNA/PCT or SPD- Preferred
  • Must be able to relate to and work with ill and disabled patients of all ages, bilingual patients, emotionally distressed patients and families, and hospital personnel.
  • Must possess visual and hearing acuity, and/or the ability to assess, document and implement actions required to meet patient/family needs.
  • Must be able to respond to emergency and crisis situations in a timely and professional manner.
  • Must complete all company mandatory modules and required job-specific training within the specified time frame.
  • Must practice within accepted ethical and legal parameters.
