About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Operate magnetic resonance scanners to obtain diagnostic and treatment images
  • Obtain patient histories and educate patients and families about procedures, treatment, risks and prevention
  • Position patients and perform radiographic procedures according to departmental guidelines
  • Evaluate radiographic results for technical quality
  • Maintain infection prevention standards and answer patient questions
  • Prepare, clean, adjust, inspect and maintain MRI equipment
  • Produce quality images and prepare them with pertinent patient information for interpretation
  • Maintain documentation and archive imaging data
  • Collaborate with physicians and other medical professionals
  • Use imaging techniques and cross-sectional anatomy to create high-quality scans
  • Modify technical settings and scanning parameters to enhance images and minimize unnecessary exposure
  • Start IVs and/or catheters for MRI procedures
  • Prepare, administer and monitor IV contrast and/or patient sedation and patient status
  • Complete pacemaker and other MRI safety screenings
  • Perform equipment quality control, troubleshoot issues and notify appropriate personnel
  • Maintain department workflow and adequate inventory of supplies
  • Participate in evidence-based learning, professional development, in-service seminars, mentoring and education of colleagues and students
  • Report safety incidents and perform work safely

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate's of Applied Science or other related field required
  • ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT required
  • BLS (American Heart Assoc.) required
  • Fingerprint Clearance Card application number required upon hire
  • Fingerprint Clearance Card required within 90 days of hire
  • 1 year experience as an imaging technologist required; 3 years preferred
  • Hospital-based experience preferred
  • Understanding of computers and competence using computers and basic software programs
  • Must obtain and maintain appropriate clinical competencies for assigned roles
  • Call required
  • Must comply with state and federal regulations, company policies, mandatory modules and job-specific training
  • Must maintain required certifications and licenses as valid and up to date
