About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist with patient care under the supervision of the charge nurse, clinical manager, and/or director
- Assist with patient transfers, mobility, activities of daily living, compression garments, dressing removal, and patient repositioning
- Observe skin integrity and report problem areas or abnormal findings to supervising clinicians
- Assist with catheter and IV removal and phlebotomy within scope of practice
- Maintain department cleanliness and follow isolation and blood-borne-pathogen safety procedures
- Assess patient care needs, prioritize tasks, and respond to changes in patient status
- Collaborate with physicians and healthcare professionals to support quality patient care
- Serve as a resource and assist staff and physicians with EMR order entry as needed
- For Discharge PCT: assist patients in and out of vehicles, reinforce discharge instructions, coordinate with interdisciplinary teams and community agencies, secure DME, and support access to health-related services
- Answer and prioritize administrative telephone calls and obtain accurate caller information
- Assist with orientation and training of new PCT staff
- Maintain unit documents, charts, and chart copies; assist the charge nurse with clerical duties
- Document objective patient data, care provided, and reporting of abnormal findings
- Report safety incidents through the Midas/RDE tool and complete required training and compliance activities
- Float/Flex Pool PCTs may work on any hospital unit, change departments during a shift, work as a Patient Safety Attendant, and take call as required
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or GED
- Graduate of a Nursing Assistant Program
- Current, unrestricted CNA or LNA license in the State of Arizona
- Basic Life Support (BLS—American Heart Association only)
- Fingerprint Clearance Card application number required upon hire if employee does not have an Arizona LNA license
- Fingerprint Clearance Card required within 90 days from date of hire if employee does not have an Arizona LNA license
- Understanding of computers and competence using computers and basic software programs
- Must maintain appropriate clinical competencies for assigned roles
- Must comply with Arizona State Board of Nursing laws and regulations, state and federal regulations, and company policies
- For Discharge PCT: ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and community agencies
- For Discharge PCT: ability to utilize EMR for documentation and communication
- For Discharge PCT: knowledge of available community resources
- For Discharge PCT: understanding of post-discharge resource planning
