About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide generalized support services under the supervision of a Registered Nurse
  • Follow the Nursing Plan of Care and Medical/Surgical Standards of Care and Practice
  • Communicate patient and family needs or concerns to the collaborative healthcare team
  • Assist stable patients with ambulation under RN direction and supervision
  • Keep patients safe and occupied through interactive activities such as playing cards, reading books, and writing notes
  • Receive and assist with setting up patient food trays and snacks under RN supervision
  • Receive report from the RN or off-going patient safety attendant at the start of the shift
  • Give report to the RN and incoming patient safety attendant before relinquishing responsibilities
  • Keep the RN informed of changes in patient behavior or status
  • Keep assigned rooms clean, comfortable, and safe
  • Report safety-related incidents through the VigiLanz tool
  • Attend safety-related training and monitor the work environment for safety issues
  • Perform other duties within the scope and abilities of training

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) certification required
  • Fingerprint Clearance Card application number required upon hire
  • Fingerprint Clearance Card required within 90 days of hire
  • Understanding of computers and competence using computers and basic software programs
  • Must keep certifications and/or licenses current and valid
  • Must complete mandatory modules and required job-specific training within the specified timeframe
  • Must comply with applicable state and federal regulations and company policies
