About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Prepare supplies, instruments, sutures, and equipment for surgical procedures
  • Assist the healthcare team during surgical procedures using knowledge of anatomy and physiology
  • Provide safe intra-operative patient care, including specimen handling and medication labeling and handling
  • Anticipate the sequence of events and the needs of surgeons and patients
  • Maintain, monitor, restock, and appropriately open surgical equipment and supplies
  • Accurately process and communicate provider preferences to the RN
  • Facilitate efficient operating-room turnovers
  • Assist with updating physician preference cards
  • Participate in training and education of new employees and staff on aseptic techniques and processes
  • Follow regulatory, organizational, hospital, and departmental patient-care and safety standards
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation in the EMR and report safety incidents through the Midas/RDE tool

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or GED — Required
  • Completion of OR Technician education — Preferred
  • BLS certification — Required upon hire
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST), Tech in Surgery Certified (TS-C), or NCCT — Required
  • Employee must obtain and maintain appropriate clinical competencies for assigned roles
  • 1 year of OR Tech experience or completion of an external tech training program — Required
  • Ability to work in an inpatient/hospital-based environment
  • Call required
  • Variable schedule
  • Must complete company mandatory modules and job-specific training within the specified timeframe
  • Must maintain current, valid certifications and/or licenses when required
