Trauma Registrar 1

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Maintain the Trauma Registry and ensure compliance with American College of Surgeons, National Trauma Database, and State of Arizona data standards
- Participate in research and/or statistical activities for the Trauma Program Manager and Trauma Program Director or Medical Director
- Research and solve complex coding problems involving ICD-10-CM, E-Codes, and AIS 2005
- Serve as an expert resource regarding abstracting, coding, departmental procedures, Trauma Registry Software updates, report writing, report generation, and interpretation
- Audit medical coding and trauma registry data for accuracy
- Collect and submit trauma registry data for trauma patients
- Create forms, reports, graphs, and tables
- Perform day-to-day office tasks for Trauma Services
- Report safety-related incidents through the Midas/RDE tool and attend safety training
- Comply with applicable state and federal regulations, statutes, and company policies
- Maintain a safe work environment and complete required training
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or GED — Required
- Associate's Degree — Preferred
- Completion of AAAM’s Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS) Course — Required within 6–12 months of hire
- Completion of Trauma ICD-10 coding course — Required within 6–12 months of hire
- Completion of Trauma Registry Course — Required within 6–12 months of hire
- Completed coursework in Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology — Required
- Certified Trauma Registrar (CSTR) by the American Trauma Society — Preferred
- Healthcare experience — Preferred
- Knowledge of the ICD-10-CM coding system
- Knowledge and utilization of medical terminology
- Ability to use computers and basic software programs
- Ability to maintain current required certifications and licenses
- Ability to complete mandatory modules and job-specific training within specified timeframes
