About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and routine repairs on diesel engines, generators, and related equipment
- Inspect, lubricate, and service fuel, air, cooling, and electrical systems
- Change fluids, filters, belts, hoses, and other service components
- Perform basic troubleshooting and diagnostic testing of mechanical and electrical systems
- Assist with diagnosing equipment malfunctions using inspections, work orders, and diagnostic tools
- Perform general engine and component repairs within demonstrated skill and training levels
- Assist experienced technicians with complex diagnostics, major repairs, engine overhauls, and rebuilds
- Troubleshoot Tier 4 diesel engines, PTO systems, electrical systems, instruments, gauges, and related components
- Read and follow service manuals, schematics, technical instructions, work orders, and manufacturer procedures
- Inspect safety devices and guards; report or correct deficiencies
- Tag and process warranty parts
- Stay current with technical bulletins and participate in required technical and safety training
- Document labor time, work performed, parts used, and other information in Company systems
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition
- Provide professional customer service and communicate with customers and coworkers
- Travel to customer locations and remote service sites
- Operate Company vehicles as required
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or GED required
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of diesel engine maintenance and repair
- Mechanical aptitude and safe use of hand tools, power tools, and service equipment
- Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read service manuals, work orders, technical instructions, and basic mechanical/electrical schematics
- Basic knowledge of diesel engine systems and components
- Ability to use diagnostic equipment appropriate to training and experience
- Ability to safely operate service vehicles and equipment
- Ability to follow procedures and work under direction of experienced technicians and supervisors
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks within demonstrated skill and training levels
- Strong attention to safety, quality, and detail
- Good organizational and communication skills
- Ability and willingness to perform field-service work and travel to remote locations
- Valid driver's license and compliance with Company driving requirements
- Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb, reach, and work in restricted spaces
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull tools, parts, and equipment weighing up to 70 pounds
- Ability to inspect equipment, read gauges and technical information, identify defects, and safely perform mechanical and electrical work
- Maintain a complete set of hand tools appropriate to the duties and skill level
- Comply with Company policies, procedures, and safety requirements
- Successful completion of applicable pre-employment screening, including drug screening and other job-related screening, may be required
